1. When will the game be released?     ^ back to top
The current release estimate is the end of summer 2009.

2. What game engine is used?     ^ back to top
Graphically the engine is a mix of homebrewn technology and the Gamebryo engine, including PhysX, Kynapse and WWise middleware in there.

3. Does the engine support Anti-Aliasing?     ^ back to top
Yes AA is supported in the game.

4. Is windowed mode supported?     ^ back to top
It is supported for developing purposes. No decision is made upto now about if this will remain to be avilable upon release.

5. What platforms will the game be released for?     ^ back to top
Divinity 2 will be released on the PC and Xbox 360. No decision has yet been made about releasing it on Playstation 3.

6. What are the system specs?     ^ back to top
The screenshots that are currently on the net from Geforce 8800 dual-core systems running in full HD (1080p). the target is to have it run on 7800 cards. Because the game also runs on an Xbox360, it's more optimized than if it only had been a PC game. A 360 game has to be able to run from DVD using only 512Mb, so the benefits for the PC version are clear.

7. What interfaces will be supported?     ^ back to top
*Currently* the PC version supports both PC & Xbox360 interfaces (they are quite different from each other). It is not determined if the games for windows label is supported. If so, that means it is to ship with controller support (as it's one of the requirements for the label).

8. What languages will the game be in?     ^ back to top
There's been no decisions about localization yet, but German and English are probably a safe bet.

9. Is there multiplayer support?     ^ back to top
No. Coop multiplayer was supported for quite some time but to much sacrifice of the story depth had to be sacrificed to maintain it, so it is put on hold end of 2007. It turned out that two games had to be made if a good single player experience and a good coop multiplayer experience were required, and that just wasn't doable with the team size.

10. Will there be mod tools available?     ^ back to top
There is no intention to deliver mod tools at release. It is unclear at this moment if any tools will be made available after release. It has been mentioned though that there are some very interesting tools made available by the oblivion community that might allow to do something.

11. Who will do the music?     ^ back to top
Like in the other Divinity games; Kirill Pokrovsky.

12. Why is a different font used compared to Divinity?     ^ back to top
They wanted to make a game where people were going to say - hey, that looks and plays really cool - rather than have a game where people said - hey, that plays cool but it's a shame about the outdated technology. To reach that goal, a heavy investment in both the art and technology was made over the last years, and a radically change in their approach to development (which honestly was quite chaotic in the past). The internal quality expectations are a lot higher nowadays and they are very demanding in trying to polish things. So, the different font thing wasn't really done on purpose (actually, it was made by somebody outside the team), but it somehow symbolizes that change and it felt natural to change the look.

13. How big is the development team?     ^ back to top
They started on the technology in 2004 with a very small team. In 2005,2006 a few more people were added and in the middle of 2007 the team was expanded heavily.
Divine Divinity started in 1999 to be released in 2002 and Beyond Divinity started beginning of 2003 to be released in the middle of 2004.
Preparations for Divinity 2 started in 2004 and a couple of years were spent on gathering ideas, setting up processes and trying out technology. The real development only started in late 2006 and full production has been going on since late summer 2007.

14. Why is it called Ego Draconis?     ^ back to top
People have wondered why it is exactly Divinity II goes by the name of Ego Draconis, so here is the explanation. "Ego" is Latin for "I" and "Draconis" is the genitive of "Draco" meaning "dragon". Why then, isn't the game simply called "Ego Draco"? Well actually, there is a very good reason, namely that "Ego Draconis" is a genitive of origin. This means that Divinity II isn't called "I, dragon", but "I of dragon", or more fluently translated, "I, descendant, scion, heir or successor of the dragon". Which of these possibilities comes closest to the meaning the devloper want it to carry, or how it ties in with the story, is for you to find out when the game ships.

15. Who is the US publisher?     ^ back to top
That is still being negotiated at the moment.

16. Will there be a demo?     ^ back to top
That has yet to be decided.
