Clandestine - Co-op Playthrough

by Myrthos, Monday - November 16, 2015 22:03

A playthrough for Clandestine's co-op mode has been done by Supervinh47, which was done before the recent patch of the game.

Clandestine is a unique stealth/hacking hybrid of a spy game, developed by Logic Artists! Played either single player or via online cooperative play, gamers take on the roles of two former support agents who are thrust into becoming field agent! Clandestine is defined by its hybrid role system: Katya is the boots on the ground, standard stealth spy game character, whereas her partner, Martin, is more of the hacker type sitting back in the command van. Players who control Katya DEPEND on Martin for hacking doors, controlling cameras, and keeping track of security. Players who control Martin need Katya to hook in wireless modems to PCs and extract intel.

Did I mention that this is all set in the 90s?

Clandestine - Update Version 0.3 on Steam

by Couchpotato, Monday - January 19, 2015 05:52

Clandestine has received more patches in the last two months on Steam. So here are some of the changes taking off the Steam Update for this that are interested.

Visual Improvements

We’ve done some exciting things to visually improve Clandestine:

-Rim Lighting has now been added to the character clothes as well as their skin (oooh shiny)
-Character Eyes have an additional illumination to avoid the horrifying undead look in the dark
-Blood decals on characters - if killed, enemies now display a blood spray decal on their face.
-Increased screen-space ambient occlusion, meaning that the darker areas of the map have a bit more contrast and shadow definition, instead of just being generally dark.

Armor Improvement

-Wearing Armor as Katya now provides damage reduction as opposed to increasing health, this fixes an issue we had where spawning in the Low Profile outfit would start the player with “yellow” health.

Crouched Movement Improvement

-We sped up the animation and added a new crouched idle animation (Katya will take a knee when idle in crouch).

Clandestine - Preview @ Morbidplay

by Couchpotato, Thursday - January 15, 2015 04:53

Morbidplay posted a short early preview of Logic Artists next game called Clandestine.

Clandestine is a game with a brilliant concept in its asymmetric game play but is let down by subpar sound, visuals and controls. If you are really into stealth games and have a buddy to play it with this game could be worth a look if you can get it on sale. Everyone else, give this game a miss until Logic Artist have had some more time to iron out the game play.

Clandestine - Playthrough Diary

by Myrthos, Tuesday - December 09, 2014 22:03

Aubrielle was invited by Logic Artists to join them in a playthrough session of Clandestine, the co-op spy game in which she plays the female spy.

In my playthrough, I played as Katya, complete with fire engine red hair and flannel, as I killed my way through some warehouse in search of mysterious pieces of intel, stored on 3.5" floppy disks.  Alex played as Martin, the wizard-behind-the-curtain, disabling cameras, watching my progress, alerting me to danger, and generally being a sort of deus ex machina figure.  And this is the way co-op works in Clandestine - the spy does the dirty work, but all she knows about her environment is what she can see.  It's nerve-wracking and even frightening at times.  The hacker can see most things, either through his magic Windows 95 terminal or through the closed-circuit cameras he can manipulate, though he's limited to some extent - for instance, he can only see guards and other foes once he sees them through the cameras.  The hacker can't really intervene for the spy, either, so if he sees danger, all he can do is tell the spy about it and hope she reacts in time.  It really does force both players to rely on each other completely, as two halves of one operation.  It's not about who can hose hordes of enemies with the most bullets.  It's real teamwork - patience and cold nerves.

Clandestine - Alpha Preview @ Load The Game

by Couchpotato, Wednesday - November 12, 2014 02:03

Vlad Pintea of Load The Game has the next preview of an Alpha build of Clandestine.

On the flip-side, this is clearly a very early version of Clandestine, as the animations could be better, the protagonist moves way too slow when crouched, the response-times need to be faster, and various elements like bottles don’t properly break. Furthermore, even though I was once spotted by a camera and the alarm was raised, no one bothered to look for me. Even worse – one time, after an enemy spotted Katya, he would just randomly run around her but never engage. To sum it all up, the optimization also needs to kick-in as soon as possible, as the requirements are way too demanding for what Clandestine offers. At the very least, the game’s soundtrack perfectly fits the desired tone.

Clandestine - Early Alpha Preview

by Couchpotato, Monday - November 10, 2014 05:40

Should You Play This Game? posted a new preview of the early Alpha version of Clandestine. Look forward to a new preview from our site in a few weeks also.

Clandestine costs 30 dollars, or 50 dollars for two copies of the game. The co-op idea behind the game is great and unique, but the current state of the game and fairly high cost means that you should wait until the game has had more development before it could be considered worth buying.

Asymmetrical Co-op Spy Thriller “Clandestine” Infiltrates Steam Early Access Today

Undertake of Role as Spy or Hacker and Experience a Unique Globetrotting Stealth Adventure Now

Copenhagen, Denmark - October 30, 2014 - Danish indie developer Logic Artists, the creator of the popular turn based strategy game Expeditions: Conquistador, today announced that asymmetrical co-op espionage adventure “Clandestine” is now available on Steam Early Access. Set in the mid 1990’s, Clandestine offers players a globetrotting cooperative stealth experience, solving a Post-Cold War agent conspiracy in the role of field agent or a spy. Download Clandestine on Early Access today for 26.99€ / 29.99$ / 22.99£: http://store.steampowered.com/app/290530. Early Access players will also be given free access to the first DLC package planned for the game, a value of 45.99€ / 49.99$ / 34.99£.

“We’re so excited to launch Clandestine on Early Access so that we can start gathering player feedback and incorporate that into the final version of the game”, said Jonas Wæver, creative director at Logic Artists. “We know that players will enjoy this unique asymmetrical cooperative gameplay and look forward to hearing what they think!”

With Clandestine launching on Early Access, developers guarantee a spoiler FREE version, meaning that players have access to four Challenge maps to experience the core mechanics of the game without giving away Clandestine’s intricate plot through the Story mode which will be available in the full launch version. In addition to the Challenge maps, Logic Artists has introduced three playable game modes, including Cleaner, Smash & Grab and Exfiltrate.

The ‘Spy’ and ‘Hacker’ characters, central to the theme and gameplay, also each have unique features and abilities that must be used together harmoniously in order to achieve success. The Spy has a selection of weapons to equip, including three pistols (PPK, SR1, MK23), two ammo types (Lethal, Non-lethal), gadgets and grenades (Banshee, Remote Pager, Remote Modem, Fragmentation Grenade, Flashbang) and two outfits (Tactical Gear, Low Profile - civilian outfit), as well as a lock-picking option to help infiltrate secure areas without calling attention to themselves. The ‘Hacker’ player in Clandestine holds the important role of blocking security cameras, bribing guards, hacking security doors, arranging dead drops of ammo and health, guiding the Spy through intricate mazes, alerting the Spy to nearby danger and generally providing instructions about what is going on outside of the Spy’s visual field. For the Early Access launch, Logic Artists has also included the ability for the Hacker to tag enemies so that they are visible to the Spy, even through walls.

RPGWatch Feature - Clandestine at Gamescom

by Myrthos, Monday - September 22, 2014 23:12

While I was a t Gamescom I had the chance to talk to Alex Mintsioulis from Logic Artists about their new game Clandestine, their previous game Expeditions: Conquistador and more.

Clandestine is a different beast. It is not even a RPG, it is an action-stealth game, a spy thriller set in the nineties. It has two playing modes, a single player and a two player asymmetrical co-op mode, in which the first player will play as a female spy in the traditional third person view of an action stealth game. She can move and take cover, climb over obstacles, and use weapons and gadgets. The second player will play in a 2D interface as a male hacker who is supporting the spy player. Alex mentioned movies, such as Sneakers and Mission: Impossible as references. I personally would compare it to the actions in the TV-show Nikita, with the nerd Birkhoff, but as this game is set in the late nineties it would probably be the older show, La Femme Nikita, without the evil organization.
