Brigand: Oaxaca - Community Pack DLC released

by Hiddenx, Monday - December 09, 2019 20:23

Version 6.2B of Brigand: Oaxaca - a community pack DLC - has been released:

Version 6.2B, Community Pack DLC

Minor update, free Community Pack DLC now working
Finally got the free Community Pack DLC working properly. It's an extra 500 mb, but it includes hi-resolution character skins for both the original and the Panama DLC (from Jack Mangano), as well as improved gun sound effects (from FedSmoker). I'm hoping there will eventually be some gameplay mods, challenge maps, or even a whole new story, but the world editor is not yet the user-friendliest. I'll work on the world editor in future patches.

There is also a new patch for the original and Panama. Here's a complete list of fixes:

SOURCE CODE:
-AI now randomly rotates if there's nothing else to do (making player's Stealth skill more important).
-Script command "StopAllSound" now stops every sound effect if there is no parameter.

SCRIPTS:
-UB Elite Inspectors now spawn in Pochutla and Loma Larga if UBNS takes over (and search player for contraband).
-(PANAMA) Voices now stop when new character talks during cut scenes.
-(PANAMA) Mabel now surrenders in DAM script as well as AI script.

RESOURCES:
-Fixed hi-res character textures and gun sound effects for Community Content DLC.

Brigand: Oaxaca - Version 2.3 released

by Hiddenx, Thursday - December 28, 2017 13:40

Version 2.3 of Brigand: Oaxaca has been released:

Version 2.3

A small but important update is up. It fixes some script bugs pointed out by Elkinda, most importantly the bug in which Voodoo Altars would not work, preventing you from sacrificing gold to cure your insanity and making Voodoo essentially useless. Some dialogue bugs have also been fixed. Finally, I also fixed a corrupt voice sound file that crashed the game, pointed out by Hedoroman1.

The next update will be out in January with more substantial improvements. I will try to improve some textures and add some more details to the maps.

There is a still a bug in which hidden object limbs sometimes reappear (like the default AKs held by thugs, which should not be visible at all). Other than this bug, I think everything else is fixed in the main game, but I'm sure the world editor still has some issues.

Brigand: Oaxaca - Version 2.0 released

by Hiddenx, Saturday - November 04, 2017 10:28

Version 2.0 of the challenging FPS/RPG Brigand: Oaxaca has been released:

Version 2.0

I finally got the new version up and everything seems to be working. I would back up your save file if you have one, though, as the sub-directories have all changed to accommodate for multiple story files. It's probably fine, but better to be safe.

Included is a save converter, so if you want to continue your character from version 1, run that program first on the launch menu, select your character, and wait a few seconds.

Major changes include a new World Editor launch option. The world editor could still use some work, but you can play around with it and start creating your own stories. I still have to implement a way to upload files, but it will probably be a while before any content is ready anyway. I was planning to have a free example DLC story with this release, but that will have to wait a week or so. It will be a single-map defense challenge.

As for bug fixes, the upside-down texture bug is no more. The solution was so simple that I now spit at my reflection in the mirror every morning for not fixing it earlier. I also increased the max objects per map from 2000 to 5000, so feel free to hoard as many guns and beers as you want on any map -- it won't crash the game.

There's a whole lot of other fixes, too. Check the Brigand Updates text file in the game folder to see everything that's been updated.

Brigand: Oaxaca - Released on Steam

by Hiddenx, Wednesday - July 12, 2017 19:37

The FPS/RPG hybrid Brigand: Oaxaca launched on Steam:

Boom

It is finally up. Please buy my game and help me support my many addictions.

I am planning to release an update in about 2 weeks that will include the world editor, higher resolution options, and hopefully any bug fixes that you report to me.

I'm confident that there are no bugs left in the core engine. However, there may be some mistakes remaining in the game scripts, but those are easy to fix as they are just text files -- it won't require a new compile and it won't require you to start a new game. Please don't hesitate to send me any bugs you find.

Brigand: Oaxaca is a highly difficult post-apocalyptic RPG/FPS set in Mexico. The story will take you from a banana plantation to dark toxic caverns, to the sprawling city of Pochutla, to the flooded coastline, to deadly demon-infested jungles, and more.

There are 14 unique skills to upgrade with skill points, ranging from agility to firearms, hacking, hardware, voodoo. Unlock up to 80 special abilities that allow you to do things such as throw your weapon, upgrade your guns, and control the weather.

Dangers include rival tribes fighting for fertile land, mutated ghouls that emerge from their caverns at night, vicious demons that hunger for your flesh, a flooded and irradiated coastline that eats away at civilization, disease, insanity, and hunger.

You will die often, and you will like it.

Key Features:
  • Branching story with dynamic characters, dialogue trees, and multiple endings
  • Total freedom of movement and action: jump from roof to roof, steal things, blow things up, or murder friendly characters (if that's your thing)
  • Extensive character customization with 14 skills to upgrade and over 80 abilities to unlock, ranging from firearms to crafting, hacking, and voodoo
  • Crafting system largely based on the Anarchist's Cookbook: make various grenades from empty beer cans and the proper chems, etc.
  • Explore a vast region of Oaxaca, taking you from a banana plantation, into toxic caverns, bustling cities, disease-ridden jungles, and a flooded coastline

Thanks Neon!
