Ambrov X - All News

Ambrov X - Editorial @ The Galaxy Express
The Galaxy Express has a article I missed a few months back asking will we ever be able to play Ambrov X? If you don't remember the game take a look at the news archive.
AMBROV X is designed to feature the conventions of science fiction romance in a visual, interactive medium. It’s essentially the theme of "love against the odds" in a futuristic, technology-based setting. How often do we come across that kind of mix? Rarely.

Ambrov X - Funding Canceled
Loreful has cancelled all funding for Ambrov X. They have a new announcement that all is not lost though as a few publishers, and investors are interested.
What happens now?
We continue! We never planned on our Kickstarter being successful. Kickstarter is an unknown and was never part of our funding strategy. We thought we would take a shot. We took our shot and it didn't pan out for us.
The upside is that we learned A LOT! We connected with some amazing people and we found 1,001 backers who believe in us. We also received some incredible feedback about our game that has made us rethink some crucial elements. We are taking this feedback internally and focusing our efforts on Ambrov X.
One thing that is important to remember: We are in PRE-ALPHA. We are at the very beginning stages of this game and we have a long way to go. We decided against releasing the pre-alpha because we took a unique stance in doing so. We wanted to add a bit more polish than usual. But in doing so, many have confused our polished Pre-Alpha with a poor Demo. While we are immensely satisfied with the Pre-Alpha build, we felt that releasing it would actually do more harm than good.
So now, we continue our campaign into the private investment arena. We've had much more success there. We've also received some interest from publishers. So the options open to Ambrov X are many and we are going to continue on!
Ambrov X - Update#8, Combat
Loreful has a new update for Ambrov X dealing with the games combat.
We are digging into combat this week and next week. We have a dev diary coming your way as well as something more special. Needless to say, our silence this week has not been without reason, we are giving it our all over here. So...in the spirit of the "combat" discussion, we asked Jennifer to really set the record straight on her thoughts around combat. Enjoy.
Ambrov X - Update#7, New Digital Level

You asked for it and here it is!

Ambrov X - Update#6, Conversation System
Ambrov X has a new update, and video with more details about the games Paradigm Conversation System.
The Paradigm conversation system in Ambrov X is designed to offer the player a more fine-tuned control of how they want to play through the game. Although on the outside it may seem like a minor change from existing dialogue systems, internally it gives players an incredible amount of influence over how the game plays. We hate the idea of good vs. evil, because that is completely unrealistic. In reality, there are many shades of grey. That being said, there are 4 Paradigms players will be able to choose from at key points in our game. Each one reflects a particular play style.
Military – This is the most “traditional” of the paradigms. While the military approach is generally one of combat, it won’t always be so. The Military paradigm will also lead players down a path of strategy, defense and covert ops. Destroying one’s enemies and bringing justice to fallen friends, is only one aspect to this complex paradigm.
Scientific – By picking Scientific dialogue options, players skew their missions toward exploration and discovery. This paradigm is for people who want to delve into knowledge, learning as much as they can about the world around them and the people they are interacting with.
Philosophic – Philosophic dialogue options are for players who like to ask big questions: not “What is this and how does it work?” but “Why is the world like this and can it be fixed?” By selecting philosophic dialogue options, players are choosing to take their missions down a more story-oriented and less immediate route, potentially sacrificing “success” at their objective to achieve a larger goal.
Diplomatic – For those who like to avoid combat, diplomatic dialogue options offer players a path through missions focused on peacefully resolving issues with enemies. This doesn’t mean there will be no fighting on this path, but the player is setting the stakes of the mission so that the deaths of all enemies would be considered a failure.
Ambrov X - Update#5, Support and Share
Ambrov X has a new update with news about supporting, and sharing to earn some new ingame items for every backer.
We've heard from a lot of you that you would like to help Ambrov X. And frankly, we NEED your help. We've sat down and come up with two ways you can do just that.Avatars
Many of you have asked for avatars and we are supplying those today! Four unique avatars for each of the four classes. You can find them below with instructions.
Kickstarter Page Facebook Shares
Second, we are launching a sharing initiative today. Engage your friends and family to help us spread the word by sharing our Kickstarter page via the Facebook link below our video. If we can get our Kickstarter Page up to 3,000 Facebook shares we will give all backers four of these class icon stickers. (Note: No additional international shipping costs applied).
If we can get the Facebook Shares up to 6,000 we will give all backers a unique in-game item...the Founder's Com Unit! Which includes +10 to all stats right on the Comm Unit itself, in addition to the 3 open mod slots.
Ambrov X - Update#4, Going in to Week 2
Ambrov X has a new update with news about the project entering it's second week.
We have several updates coming this week, including video and dev articles around Combat and the Paradigm system!
Last week was full of great responses to our Pre-Alpha Build. We spent the weekend getting our Pre-Alpha build into the eager hands of our local Cincinnatians at the first annual Cincy Comicon! And even had Tony Moore stop by the booth and give us words of encouragement and support.
They even included some impressions from players of the game.
"Played the pre-alpha build of @AmbrovX at the Cincy Comic Con. Absolutely brilliant/fun even this early on. :D Really glad I funded their KS!"
Wynne McLaughlin - Lead Writer, The Elder Scrolls Online - @SpacemanQuisp "New Sci-Fi RPG Kickstarter with the amazing Jennifer Brandes Hepler as Lead Writer. Go back it!"
Mary Kirby - Writer on Dragon Age: Inquisition - @BioMaryKirby "The extremely talented Jennifer Hepler is a stretch goal for the Ambrov X Kickstarter! How cool is that?"
IndieSpotted.com noted:
"In the past there have been games from such universes like Star Wars and Star Trek, or entirely new ones like Mass Effect. The chance that we will see these universes through a crowdfunding site is very slim to non-existent, but there are other great stories set in other galaxy’s far, far away that are still noteworthy to create a game from."
An amazing article over at the Border House Blog, really captured what we are trying to do:
"Ambrov X promises the first hints of an answer by giving life to an old and rich tradition too long in coming to the world of video gaming."
Ambrov X - Update#3, All 5 Episodes for $25+
Loreful has a new update with news that you can now purchace all five episodes of the game if you pledege more than $25.
We have heard from a large number of you that you would love to pledge but you want all 5 Episodes at the $25+ level. Our rationale for not offering this was simply because we did not want to over promise and under deliver. We have been extremely cautious on this point. Perhaps too cautious. We have debated this point internally for some time. We were still debating it within the 24 hours before we launched our Kickstarter. Why?
We want to deliver on our promise and will accept nothing short of that.
We have landed on the Episodic Model for several reasons. 1. It allows us to release content earlier and faster. 2. It allows us to start generating revenue from episodes rather than waiting for the entire game to be finished. And to the third and most important point: It allows us to gather fan feedback as we develop and improve the quality of our episode releases. We find this model incredibly engaging and fitting for a project that is funded by YOU!
We have looked at the budget and the timing along with our business model and feel that we can very safely promise to deliver you all five episodes for the $25+ pledge levels. We are also going to continue the campaign via PayPal in order to ensure that we can move forward and hit those stretch goals, if we don't make them here on Kickstarter. Besides, we REALLY want Jennifer on the team!
Ambrov X - Kickstarter Updates #1 & 2
Ambrov X has two new updates for its just released kickstarter. So far the game has earned $11,173 of it's $500,000 goal.
The first update deals with the first day.
We just wanted to send a massive THANK YOU to all of you that have taken a chance on us in the first day of our Kickstarter! Words cannot describe how honored we are to have your support. While we didn't hit with quite the splash we wanted the first day, despite tons of preparation and work on the backend, we are going to dig in and put all of our energy toward this campaign EVERY SINGLE DAY.
By the way, another thank you needs to go out to all of you that asked such great questions today. You know who you are! Thank you.
Our vision is to offer something new and unique to the indie landscape. We have built the team (and continue to build the team) to bring that vision to fruition. With the announcement of Jennifer Brandes Hepler joining the team at the $750K stretch goal we know that this project is on the right track. We probably don't need to tell you the depth of writing that Jennifer brings to the table. Anyone that has played the Dwarven side of Dragon Age: Origins or the Smuggler class quests in SWTOR can attest to it. We are all extremely excited and honored to work with her!
The update also has a new video with the developers.
And the second update is an introduction by Jennifer Brandes Hepler. You may remember her from Bioware.
When Aharon Cagle first approached me about Ambrov X, I was skeptical, as I’m sure most of you are. Who was this little company making what looked to be a complete Mass Effect rip-off? And how were they possibly going to manage that on a Kickstarter budget? But then we talked, and I read the source material, and I started thinking… What if when Ash/Kaidan turn against Shepard in the Citadel coup, Shepard’s own life literally depended on convincing them back to his side? What if Hawke could have used Anders’s addiction to her life-force to keep him from turning fully Vengeance? How much more intense could your relationship be with your followers if they were more than friends, more than romances – if they were both a part of your soul and the greatest threat to it?
