Rain of Reflections - Reviews

by Silver, Wednesday - October 09, 2019 20:29

Some reviews for Rain of Reflections.

The Indie Game Website

All that said, Rain of Reflections manages to introduce a cast of interesting characters and plot that becomes so emotionally complicated in the final minutes that I want to continue playing just to find out how they unravel the knot. The adoption and adaptation of tactical gameplay shows real promise, and I hope the next two chapters continue to build on those instincts.

If you’re itching for a character-focused story set against the grime and rot of cyberpunk dystopia, Rain of Reflections checks all the boxes. It’s a bit of a rough introduction, but I’m hopeful Lionbite can sand down the edges for Chapter 2.

Cram-Gaming

Rain of Reflections offers a neat adventure game fused with the combat element which sets it above similar games. Chapter 1 acts as an introduction and if the following two chapters expand upon the ideas here (especially the turn-based combat) then this will be an interesting series to dive into. The hacking lets the game down somewhat, but perhaps some players will enjoy the mild puzzle element here. For under £15 it’s not bad value at all but in terms of replay it’s not offering too many choices if any at all considering once you playthrough you know what to expect. Perhaps a difficulty option could have improved replay. As it stands, Rain of Reflections comes as a interesting prospect but not a game for all players.

Score 7.5/10

Rain of Reflections - Interview @ Sem Tilt

by Couchpotato, Monday - March 02, 2015 03:35

A new interview was published for Rain of Reflections on a site called Sem Tilt.

How long has the game been in development for?

It was in pre-production for about six months, with just the closest core team concepting everything, eventually creating a vertical slice. We scaled up the team and entered actual production just a couple of months back.

How much are the player’s actions and choices going to influence the outcome of the story and its characters?

It’s a matter of life and death, and eventually the fate of the entire city. Our goal is to make the player feel responsible for every action and cope with the consequences. There is no undo button, no game over screen, no retry from checkpoint.

In what genre falls the style of combat of Rain of Reflections?

I would say it’s a completely fresh and unique combination of real-time and turn-based strategy, with RPG and even point and click elements.

RPGWatch - Rain of Reflections Short Q&A

by Couchpotato, Sunday - January 25, 2015 14:01

We had the chance to interview Lionbite Games to get more information on their new Cyberpunk RPG game Rain of Reflections. Here is a sample of the interview below.

Couchpotato: You just announced Rain of Reflections this week so can you share a few details about the game, and what makes the game stand out from other RPG games?

Lionbite Games: It’s just that. Rain of Reflections will be a comparatively shorter, more intense experience where every choice counts and every step leads somewhere new. I love the way video games as a medium can grip you and sweep you away, the escapism of it and how a really gripping atmosphere can make you want to immerse yourself in the game’s world. This is a very important and central part of Rain of Reflections, but at the same time, you will never be worn out by repetitive grinding or repetition in any way.

This philosophy is reflected in the game’s battle system, which will be genuinely unique and made possible through something we internally call the “M3 morale meter”. The struggles are constructed around battle morale, and there are lots of ways to outsmart your enemy without directly resorting to lethal violence. This makes it possible for us to tell the story even during battles using dialogue, distractions and ruse tactics as weapons.

I will have more interviews next month as we have a preview to share next.Smile

Rain of Reflections - A New Cyberpunk RPG Game

by Couchpotato, Friday - January 23, 2015 01:05

Rain of Reflections is a new game form an indie developer calling themselves Lionbite Games. The game sounds interesting so here is a video, and short description

loading...

Rain of Reflections tells its noiresque story through three protagonists, two of which are female. The player will get to experience life in the futuristic, dystopian city through all three perspectives, ranging through society’s layers and social classes, interweaving the highly choice-driven journey.

Ambience and mood is an important part of the experience and the player is encouraged to explore the detailed environments in which the adventure is set, learning about the world and its characters (no scattered audio-logs or trails of notes – guaranteed!).

Rain of Reflections finds strengths in limitations. Lionbite Games wants to break RPG conventions by avoiding typical genre mechanics to focus on the very essence. The game will constantly move forward, without fillers, repetitive battles or monotonous grinding.

The battle system is deeply connected to the story and centered around a unique morale mechanic, allowing the player to use environments, ruse tactics, threats and even smart dialogue choices to handle confrontations without resorting to mindlessly blowing enemies to pieces.

Every choice has a consequence. The player is forced to live with them. In the words of the game’s leading characters: “This is my story. This is your story. This is our story. To the very end.”

Rain of Reflections is being developed in the Unity game engine for PC, with additional platforms considered for a later release.
