Krai Mira - Review @ RPG Codex

by Hiddenx, Monday - October 05, 2020 20:36

The RPG Codex has reviewed the post apocalyptic RPG Krai Mira:

RPG Codex Review: Krai Mira

[Review by Lord_Potato]

Imagine if someone played Fallout and decided that the best qualities of that masterpiece were its tactical turn-based combat and a non-interactive version of its main story. Now imagine this person making a post-apocalyptic tribute to Fallout based mostly on just those two qualities. That’s how you get Krai Mira.
A combat-heavy RPG that trades Fallout's freedom for a linear adventure in a world that pretends to be open, but really isn't.

Krai Mira - Extended Cut Gameplay

by Silver, Wednesday - May 10, 2017 12:54

Complete Nonsense Reviews takes a look at Krai Mira Extended Cut and finds it technically competent but lacking in character.

loading...

Krai Mira Extended Cut is a post-apocalyptic indie RPG game that was obviously built from a deep love of the Fallout games. The game works as something of a Fallout tribute, and does a pretty solid job up to a point. Even though the developers have the technical skills to pull off the gameplay aspects - which are quite important, to be sure - Fallout was much more than turn-based combat and pretty aesthetics.

So I am a bit torn on this title, it is very competent from a technical standpoint but at the same time, I feel it lacks character. So I won't be going back to it, but in case you're looking for some casual-style RPGing in a post-apocalyptic setting, go on further to the Steam page and check it out!

Krai Mira - Extended Cut Review

by Hiddenx, Tuesday - April 25, 2017 19:11

Gamespew has reviewed Krai Mira - Extended Cut:

Krai Mira: Extended Cut Review

The desolate wasteland of Krai Mira returns with this new edition. While it boasts more content than before, it doesn’t really change the experience enough. Krai Mira: Extended Cut offers old school RPG fans something to enjoy, but isn’t inviting for casual fans.

The core game has not been altered much with this new edition. Fans of early Fallout and Wasteland games will again feel at home, however. You have one main quest to follow and what you do outside of that is your call. There’s quests, encounters, loot, and exploration. The Krai Mira: Extended Cut now allows players to continue their adventure after completing the main quest. While the game showcases a fair amount of change, it doesn’t shift the game enough to benefit casual RPG fans. It continues to be a gift for die hard genre fans, but the numerous issues present in the base game, although somewhat accounted for, still linger.

[...]

Krai Mira: Extended Cut, unfortunately, feels more like a big patch than a fresh take on the game. Which, it kind of is because if you have the base game, this version is just a simple download. As the title states, this is more extension than improvement. The core of the game has not changed enough to make it feel completely welcoming, though that is not to say the improvements aren’t noticeable. Lazy writing, persistent UI difficulties/problems, AI bugs and some combat balancing are enough to scare away most players, but underneath the surface, classic RPG fans still have the same enjoyable experience with a little extra game to explore. It’s definitely worth the free upgrade for owners of the base game, but Krai Mira: Extended Cut isn’t an RPG you need to play. It’s good fun, but not enough to keep you interested if you don’t live for these type of games.

Score: 7/10

Krai Mira - Extended Cut: Available in April

by Hiddenx, Tuesday - February 21, 2017 20:28

Krai Mira: Extended Cut will be released on April 4th. Owners of the standard version will get the update for free:

Krai Mira: Extended Cut will be available in April

Krai Mira, the spiritual successor to the classic Fallout, is making a huge comeback in April thanks to the Extended Cut release. It wouldn’t be possible without the cooperation between IMGN.PRO and TallTech Studios. The Extended Cut rebuilds formula of Krai Mira and makes it even more addictive with tons of new content. We are happy to announce that the release date is set for April 4, 2017!

February 20th, Bielsko-Biała, Poland.

War. War never changes. Krai Mira, a post-apocalyptic isometric RPG, takes huge inspiration from genre classics like Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. In order to survive, the player needs to be cunning, ruthless, and use their survival skills. The air is filled with toxic poison and enemies lurk ahead – it certainly won’t be easy to make it out alive…

The action takes place in an open world full of a variety of locations. Every step reveals new dangers. The smell of the toxic air makes breathing almost impossible. Skin is burnt by the sun, the ground is soaked with radiation and blood. Survival is the priority here, then finding out what actually happened in this forsaken place. To do that, the player needs to fight monsters and looters alike.

That’s why the most important aspect of Krai Mira is combat. The player is given a wide range of weapons and armor, including some pretty unusual items. It’s possible, for example, to wear various things you pick up during exploration, like old flat tires. This realistic element makes Krai Mira’s universe a whole lot more believable. The player levels up, developing their character and carefully selecting abilities. While exploring the radioactive desert, lost cities, forests, caves, and swamps, NPCs are waiting to offer interesting quests.

KRAI MIRA: EXTENDED CUT

This old-school production by TallTech Studio, styled after the genre’s classics, is getting a spectacular amount of improvements thanks to this special version of the game. Rich new content will enhance the experience of the dangerfilled post-apocalyptic world: developers implemented interactive help and tips, new inventory view and UI adjustments. Players will also find many new items, including high level armor and advanced cures. And this is just the beginning – you’ll meet even more dangerous creatures and much more random encounters. The truth is, you always need to watch your back in Krai Mira.

At the same time the developers have added new localizations (French, Polish, and German), tons of new dialogue lines, and smarter AI. The player will also find new locations: the monastery, catacombs, “Lake” laboratory complex, ancient ruins, and more. So you can be sure of the fact, that Krai Mira: Extended Cut is carefully polished – the developers also took care of bugs, balance and optimization fixes. And, most importantly, now you’ll be able to continue your adventure after completing the main quest.

FEATURES:

  • improved, better-quality content
  • impressively precise in-combat design
  • sneaking, setting up traps and mines
  • additional flavor in minigames: gambling, dice, arcade machine
  • exploring various locations, such as swamps, forests, desert, caves, ancient ruins
  • collecting weapons, armor, and unique items
  • intriguing main storyline in an open world
  • additional side missions
  • dynamic day and night cycle
  • character development around personal preferences
  • gaining followers
  • inspired by cult games like Fallout, Commandos, and Diablo

RPGWatch Feature - Krai Mira Interview

by Myrthos, Tuesday - September 08, 2015 13:04

Coucpotato interviewed the developer of Krai Mira, formerly known as Crimea and forwarded it to us. It is not an original article as it has been published before by Couch, but if you haven't read it before, it is new now.

Couchpotato: Your website says the game is inspired by Fallout so what are the similarities, and what's different?

Rostyslav: Krai Mira may resemble Fallout, as any post-apocalyptic game does. We don't try to make a clone but do want to retain the feeling and atmosphere of an adventure in a post-nuclear world.

There were some things that always looked odd in Fallout... Predator plants and alien creatures, plenty of characters but just few armour sets. There could be some variety in random desert locations. There could be traps and mines. And of course the engine. A modern 3D engine where you can set resolution and quality, control the view rotating and zooming the camera, see real weapon and armor on characters, enjoy effects and particles - explosions, fire smoke, enemy's bodies falling according to the laws of physics. All this is realized in Krai Mira.
Also our game borrows some features from such games as Diablo and Commandos. Field of view and alarms improves the realism of battles, and you also have an option to switch between pseudo-realtime (a mode where all non-player creatures take their turns simultaneously) and traditional turn-based combat.

As for the RPG/stat system - from the start I decided to be realistic and to not overload the game with tons of perks and skills. Yes, it would be great to have such an amount of ways to develop your character as Wasteland 2 offers, but I understand that Krai Mira is an indie game and it would be very difficult to maintain a balanced gameplay with a complex RPG system.

As a desision I took the SHAPE system, which was a simplified mix of GURPS and SPECIAL.

Crimea - Development Continued Update

by Couchpotato, Friday - April 03, 2015 05:43

It has been a while since I mentioned anything in the news about Crimea since it failed on Indiegogo. The developer has continued development, and is selling it for $3.57.

A single player adventure that takes place on boundless steppes, radioactive swamps, and distinctive settlements. Scorched by the sun and hopelessly irradiated, the Earth is soaked in toxic waste and blood of its former masters. Those who remain are fighting to survive the endless and senseless struggle with the environment, and, inevitably, with themselves.

Crimea - Indiegogo Update #5

by Myrthos, Wednesday - November 05, 2014 09:27

A short update showing a game global map is available for Crimea, which is labeled as a post apocalyptic RPG inspired by Fallout. With 6 days to go and $421 raised out of an asked $35K, chances are slim it will get funded, but it is on Indiegogo and uses flexible funding, so the developer takes away even this small amount.
