Graal Seeker - Tiles and the Holy Grail

by Hiddenx, Sunday - November 08, 2015 23:00

In the Graal Seeker devlog you can read an article on optimzing the use of tiles on different resolutions.

And a new article series has startet as well:

Seeking the Holy Grail. Part 1: Doune Castle

I’ve started writing articles about the Arthurian myth and the Holy Grail. In my last blog post, I showed you a secret I found on the Lancelot du Lac movie. Now I take you on a journey with me to find the Holy Grail. Let’s start with Doune castle located in Scotland.

Doune castle is a medieval stronghold originally built in the thirteenth century and became a royal retreat in the fifteenth. Some great people like Margaret Tudor and even Bonnie Prince Charlie have set their foot into the castle…

…But neither Arthur nor the Grail were there.

I guess you wonder why I’m writing about this castle and the answer is simple. Doune castle was used to film parts of “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”. So it’s a place of pilgrimage for Monty Python fans from all over the world making him one of the most pleasant castle to visit in Scotland especially because Terry Jones himself is the narrator of the audio guide.

Graal Seeker - Has Been Greenlit On Steam

by Couchpotato, Thursday - April 23, 2015 05:48

Developer Lugludum announced on Steam their game Graal Seeker has been Greenlit.

Graal Seeker has been Greenlit!

I’m happy to share with you this fresh news. After being 7 months on the Steam Greenlight platform, it has been Greenlit this week! It’s a nice surprise that’s happening. Indeed, I didn’t make as many updates as I intended to make this campaign successful and to make the community growing. But here we are! That’s excellent news and I would like to thank every one who voted, commented and have spread the word. Thank you!

What does it mean?

Being Greenlit means that our game Graal Seeker will have the opportunity to be released on the Steam platform. So it’s a really big news because I know now that Graal Seeker will reach the Steam market when it will be released.

So, what’s next?

My recent experience being an indie game developer, with all the financial implications, leads me to say no ETA, but don’t worry I definitely believe that it will come in 2016. I’m very optimistic for the future, and now I have to manage all the resources I can towards game development itself and provide more updates for the community.

Graal Seeker - Preview @ TechRaptor

by Couchpotato, Monday - January 05, 2015 20:24

Don Parsons of TechRaptor notified me of a new preview of Graal Seeker on his site.

This week, we take a look into Arthurian legends and the Matter of Britain with the RPG Graal Seeker, created by Lugludum Games Studio.

Graal Seeker takes us to the 5th century in Britain – a time of myths and legend. You play as an adventurer in this time, seeking the Graal, also known as The Holy Grail – the ancient and mysterious relic. What is it really? And why are you searching for it? Fame, and the notoriety it brings? Fortune, and the life that brings? Or do you seek it for your Faith, and your beliefs in its divine heritage?

That is up to you – as is the way you interact with a world that has far more going on around you. In this perilous time, both the Saxons and Picts threaten England. The Romans have left and the people in the lands are in many ways split amongst themselves. You may join King Arthur and his Knights in fighting off the invasions that threaten the land, ignore them, search for the mysteries in the invasions, or perhaps contribute to them yourself.

Graal Seeker - Indiegogo Update #8

by Couchpotato, Thursday - October 23, 2014 05:16

Lugludum posted the next Indiegogo Update for Graal Seeker. The campaign has only earned €1,863  of the games €10,000 goal with 11 days left.

Today we will explain you details about the knight character and close combat skills. The knight is an elite warrior guided by the values of loyalty, courage, and honour. He wields a large number of weapons and he is built for close-combat.

You can choose to evolve your knight character with a various range of close combat skills. Some of them will give your knight the efficiency to destroy the armour of your opponents, or increase his damage. Others are more tactical, granting your knight the abilities to force opponents to target him, to stun and interrupt an opponent, or even put an opponent to the ground.

A strong knight can make a real difference in combat with his combo attacks. For example, your knight can tackle his opponent to the ground and then use a special combo attack to perform a deadly blow to the grounded warrior.

RPGWatch - Graal Seeker Interview

by Couchpotato, Thursday - October 02, 2014 03:27

I had the chance to interview French developer Lugludum about their new Tactical RPG game called Graal Seeker on Indiegogo. To get you all stated here is sample.

Couchpotato: The website mentions the game will have choice and consequences how will they work? I'm also curious if they will alter the game world as you proceed through the campaign?

Lugludum: As mentioned before, all choices made in the game are analysed to make a profile of the player and lead him to a specific Graal quest. Indeed, the Graal can take different forms depending on the Graal Seeker's choices. So he could be redirected to a Christian story, Pagan story, or even something esoteric. For example, if the player always helps Christians and kills Pagans, we will definitely propose to him a Christian quest for the Grail. And of course, if he encounters Morgan, she will be his enemy and vice versa.

What is the Graal?

The Graal (or Holy Grail), the subject of myths and legends, can take several forms depending on the tradition: a chalice, a cauldron, or even an emerald. All covet it for its famed magical powers. But what is it really?

In Graal Seeker, you are an adventurer from the fifth century seeking this relic for fame, fortune, or faith. You can also join Arthur's court in his fight against the Saxons and spread justice throughout the land. But is the recent Saxon invasion related to the presence of the Holy Graal on British soil, or is it merely an excuse for territorial conquest?

From Celtic origins to Christian and esoteric texts, the quest for the Graal has inspired seekers for centuries. Graal Seeker provides a truly initiatory and introspective quest that evolves with your choices and experience. So it is the player who makes the story!
